SMT MMIC VCO Provides Low Phase Noise

Hittite Microwave Corp. introduces its SMT MMIC VCO which provides low phase noise and high output power for point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, VSAT, military and test equipment applications from 14.25 to 15.65 GHz. Due to the oscillator’s monolithic structure, the HMC632LP5(E) GaAs HBT MMIC provides optimal output power and phase noise performance over temperature. It integrates resonators, negative resistance devices and varactor diodes, and it features fundamental, RF/2 and divide-by-4 outputs. For added flexibility, the divide-by-4 prescaler function can be disabled to conserve current when not required. The device is a fully integrated VCO that requires no external components, provides output power from +7 to +9 dBm, and it delivers low SSB phase noise of -107 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset.
