Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC)* has released two new highly-efficient white LED drivers (LEDDs), the TB62730WLG and the TB62750FTG. They are designed to drive the white LEDs used to backlight the LCDs used in applications such as LED camera flashes and strobes or for backlighting in cellular phones, personal digital assistants (PDA), digital still cameras (DSC) and other mobile products. Both LEDDs integrate a variety of features that will help OEMs bring new portable devices to market with bright displays that help minimize power consumption and lengthen battery life. The operating efficiency of the TB62730WLG and TB62750FTG LEDDs is 80% in flash mode. The devices require only one external inductor to keep the current flow constant, even at falling battery voltages.
