Wireless Transmit Processor Combines Many Functions



Power Efficiences of 25% or More Advanced DPD Linearization Technology Supported by a Complete Evaluation System

Texas Instruments, Inc. introduces its model GC5322 single-chip wireless transmit processor that combines digital upconverter (DUC), crest factor reduction (CFR) and digital pre-distortion (DPD) linearization functions. The device increases the efficiency of multi-carrier power amplifiers (PAs) in the RF transmit signal chain, and it eliminates the need for high-performance RF power amplifier components. This enables base station OEMs to achieve power efficiencies of 25% or more for Class AB Pas, and reaching 40 percent or more for Doherty PAs. Its advanced DPD linearization technology reduces the requirements that would otherwise be placed on the base station power amplifier. This processor is supported by a complete evaluation system that includes high speed data converters, power solutions, clock synthesis and high performance RF.
