Mobile Boom in Emerging Markets takes Interoute to One Billion Voice Minutes a Month

Interoute Communications  announced voice traffic from its mobile partners across its cloud infrastructure, IP based Virtual Voice Network (VVN) has grown 40 per cent in the first 6 months of 2011 breaking the one billion minutes a month barrier. Demand for mobile in emerging markets has driven the increase of international mobile calls into Europe, with major operators from India, Russia and the Middle East using Interoute as their European voice network.

Matthew Finnie, CTO at Interoute, said: “In the last year we have seen a significant increase in the number of international mobile operators wanting to expand their voice networks into Europe, to support local demand for mobile on their networks. These carriers don’t want to take on the cost and time burden or risk associated with building a network from scratch in each new country in Europe, and instead outsource the network, commercial and financial elements to us. By taking advantage of our position as the network bridge between Europe, the Middle East, America and into Africa, these operators experience a much faster route to market and are free to concentrate on their core business.”

Archway is just one of the mobile operators using Interoute to provide voice connectivity into Europe. A provider of voice and ICT solutions in the Middle East, Archway uses Interoute to reliably connect its satellite networks in countries such as Iran and Iraq to Europe and the US.

Thomas Grillmeier, CTO at Archway, said: “Interoute provides a one-stop-shop for our European voice network. We specialise in the Middle East, using satellite and some leased capacity to reach Interoute’s Virtual Voice Network in Frankfurt. From there Interoute does the rest, using its existing PoPs in major telehouses to meet all major PTTs and carriers in Europe and the US. Being able to depend on a proven secure and stable platform has helped us significantly grow our business in this region, and we are now using Interoute to support our next major expansion into the growing mobile market of Syria.”

Interoute’s VVN stretches from New York to Dubai, and Stockholm to Madrid, and is currently used by more than 200 carriers as a single European long-haul network solution. With Interoute’s scalable, secure and unconstrained connectivity platform extending across 29 European countries, international operators trust Interoute to deliver on their growth plans. Furthermore, with Interoute’s Unified ICT offering operators have the flexibility to pay as they grow.
