SAN JOSE, Calif. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- GCT® Semiconductor announced the commercialization of GDM7240, a highly integrated monolithic LTE single-chip, supporting all FDD bands. GDM7240 enables one of the largest Korean mobile handset makers’ commercial FDD LTE data cards which are now shipping in volume to major US operators. In addition, an LTE smartphone and CPE using GDM7240 is scheduled for introduction early next year by the same handset maker.

GDM7240 is the most mature LTE chip available today, ideally suited to meet the rapidly growing demand for higher data speed, higher mobility, enhanced applications and global roaming. GCT began shipment of GDM7240 in the second quarter of 2010 and is currently in mass production.

GDM7240 is highly integrated and offers a full multiband transceiver supporting all FDD bands. This solution also includes MAC & PHY, RISC and a modem processor, with plug and play features that are ready to support all mobile LTE applications without the need for any device configuration. With four separate ports, this single-chip allows for many different frequency combinations, making it the ideal choice for terminal suppliers and operators worldwide. In this case, GDM7240 has been supplied to the Korean handset maker with a custom marking, recognizing the outstanding collaboration between the two companies.
