SMTA Boston educational program
The annual SMTA Boston educational program will be held
May 4-6 at The Hynes Convention Center and feature full- and half-day
Academy courses, special free events, and other co-located offerings.
The Academy Courses include Applying SPC and Six Sigma to the Surface Mount
Manufacturing Line, Surface Mount Technology Fundamentals, Outsourcing
Lead-free Assembly, Troubleshooting the SMT Assembly Process, Lead-free
Rework, Implementing Lead-free Assembly at Your Facility, and Implementing
the Pin in Paste Process.
Three special free events include a panel discussion on Americas
Electronics Manufacturing and Assembly Initiative, which will cover the
issues and potential solutions to the loss of The Americas Competitiveness
to offshore competition. A second panel discussion on Surface Finishes:
Issues Past, Present, and an Eye Towards Future, will examine issues such
as Black Pad, Tin Whiskers, Electromigration, and Lead-free
Technology. Lastly, a lecture on Advanced SMT: Fine Pitch Assembly will
outline general guidelines and focus particularly on techniques that can be
used to eliminate print errors due to stencil and board interactions.
Co-located offerings include an ASTE session, Signal Switching in
Functional Test, and SMTA Certification for SMT Processes and SMT
Systems. All events will be held in conjunction with NEPCON East, Electro,
and Assembly East.
